The mission of Resources for Artful Living (REAL) is to provide or organize
educational programs based on the creative, expressive, living and performing Arts
The organization’s intent is to help individuals and groups of people to become artistically expressive, develop sustainable living skills, enhance their mode of learning, empower themselves through the arts, and develop an appreciation for our natural environment.

Villages for Humanity

REAL’s Objectives for this Project for Building Sustainable Neighborhoods and Eco-villages are to:

• Offer Green Living classes, workshops and presentations to neighborhood schools, churches and civic groups, in an effort to help reduce the neighborhood/town’s dependency on fossil fuels, develop community gardens, tackle energy waste problems, create green arts and craft districts, help lower the area’s carbon footprint and thus turn every small urban area into a village (using Oberlin, Ohio as a model community)

• Build a community center that will serve as a training center and accommodate shared meals, gatherings, entertainment and “green living workshops” for trainees and the wider community.

On the grounds, instructors, trainees and students will:

• Establish a park and paths for walking, biking and driving small solar powered vehicles
• Build small homes with natural, surplus, and earth friendly materials that are energy efficient, off-the-grid and off-the-pipeline
• Create organic gardens, orchards and berry patches; develop composts; establish bee hives; plant edible ground cover and trees
• Develop commonly shared waste management systems, including a living machine or water filtration system, incinerator and recycle/reuse center
• Eliminate the use of plastic bags/bottles/containers, household chemical solutions, pesticides and chemical based fertilizers/herbicides/insecticides for lawn and garden
• Develop volunteer, gift-giving, bartering and resource sharing systems
